Dental Implants

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are one of the best long-term options for a restoring your smile. In fact, implants are one of the largest dental advances in the past 40 years. These allow missing teeth to be replaced without compromising surrounding teeth. They are made up of titanium and other elements that are compatible with the human body. Dental implants are a state-of-the-art option, providing a permanent solution that can replicate the quality of life that you enjoyed with your natural teeth.

Are dental implants for me?

If you are self-conscious because you have missing teeth or wear dentures, dental implants might be a good option for you. Chronic illnesses, such as diabetes or leukemia, might interfere with healing, but we will take these into account and determine if you are a candidate for implants.

What is the procedure like?

Dental implants are surgically placed in the upper or lower jaw and serve as a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth. Since the bone grows around the implant, the implants are held firmly in place. Finally, the artificial tooth/teeth are placed. We will customize a crown, or new tooth, for you that will blend in seamlessly with your other teeth. If we are replacing more than one tooth, we may create a bridge or denture to fit your implants.

How long will it take me to heal?

After your implants are placed, it will take some time for your bone to integrate with the implant and completely heal. Although some patients are able to have the implants and replacement teeth placed all in one visit, others might need to wait several months before placing the teeth.
